Clinic Description
The World Beat Rhythms (WBR) performance/clinic features critically acclaimed drummers, composers, educators and authors Maria Martinez and Ed Roscetti. They perform using drumset and a variety of traditional hand drums,covering a variety of traditional and hybrid styles. This will give the attendees a better understanding about technique, time feel, rhythmic phrasing, song form, improvisation and leading the ensemble. This interaction offers an excellent opportunity for professionals, educators and students of all ages to come together and explore communication through the language of the drum in a supportive and inspiring environment. WBR is a unique celebration of rhythm, energy and the joy of ensemble music.
Corporate Workshops
We can custom design a workshop for your corporation or group.
Custom workshops are fun, educational and therapeutic sessions that will
teach participants how to play rhythms on different percussion
instruments. The workshops establish a system, giving managers the
tools to unify and focus their staff and departments. This will help
participants build communication, listening skills and dispel stress with
the healing power of the drum.
Music Stores
World Beat Rhythms can custom design a workshop / clinic for your music
store. The hands-on approach will give the attendees the opportunity
to sample different drums and hand percussion instruments. The
workshop provides an excellent opportunity for your customers to play and
purchase instruments.
University and Schools
No matter how small or large a group we can custom design a workshop
for your school or university. The WBR book / CD series
“Goes to Brazil, Africa and Cuba” explores rhythmic styles from
different regions of the world. The students will have the
opportunity to learn ethnic and hybrid rhythms on different percussion
instruments including drumset. The educational focus is on rhythmic
awareness, technique, time-feel, phrasing, song form, improvisation and
leading the ensemble.
The hands-on experience will teach the student how to feel and move
time with each percussion part within the score as the leader of the
ensemble cues the up coming breaks. In addition students of all
levels will gain a rhythmic awareness that can be applied to any musical
instrument. The World Beat Rhythms Beyond the Drum Circle book / CD
packages are great tools for all music educators from beginner to advance
levels. This material can be used for teaching groups or a single
student.
